In the workplace, we often find ourselves on the receiving end of strong emotional reactions—from frustration in a meeting to silence in an email thread. It can be confusing, uncomfortable, and tempting to either withdraw or react defensively. Grounded in the principles of Nonviolent Communication (NVC), we’ll explore how emotions—even the intense ones—are signals that point to core human needs. When we learn how to “decode” those signals, we can shift from reacting to connecting, even in high-stakes situations.
