Do you feel like you’re drowning
in big emotions lately?
A million things are happening to us all the time.
Inside, we have hormones, anxiety, hunger, and thoughts racing through our heads.
Outside, we have noises, relationships, expectations to live up to, and impossible standards. And that’s just in our own world.
Then there’s the world at large throwing us a pandemic, inflation, foreign wars, and more. Our thoughts and feelings about all these things throw off our system and speed up our heart.
We start to feel out of control and we ask ourselves, “where am I in all this? Where do my needs fit in? How do I even start to find joy in this mess?”
Emotional regulation is so hard because our emotions serve one purpose: to remind us of what we need each and every minute of the day. But the world tells us to conform to the needs of everyone else around us: our kids, partners, friends, bosses …
So we repress, squash down, deny, or avoid our own needs. It’s a pressure cooker waiting to happen. But we don’t have time to think when we need to make split-second decisions about how to react to so much around us.
So we try to deal with the issue in the only way that feels like we have some control. Which often means not dealing with the root at all, but scrambling from one fire to the next.
Self regulation slows everything down. It’s more than taking a deep breath – it’s pausing to make sure you’re heading in the direction you choose.
If we don’t have healthy ways to get our emotions under control, we often explode on our partner and kids instead.
They yell back because they’re just as dysregulated as we are from their own stressful day. And then we want to help them because we can see how stressed they are. But their emotions add to our own load. And the cycle goes around and around …
That’s why we’re bringing you this workshop.
Self regulation is the key to being in control of your life again instead of your life being in control of you.
Join us on May 12th and come away with a concrete plan, and the confidence that it’s going to be okay.
Register now so you can slow down, respond instead of react, and can help them do the same.

3. Use Your New Strategies to Deal Better With Challenging Behaviour
After two tough years it’s no wonder big emotions are all around us …
The adolescent years are defined by big changes – social, personal, behavioural, and mental health. Add on top of this a global pandemic, and it’s no wonder that both teens and the adults who support them are struggling.
Kids (and their grownups) are being asked to carry a lot and don’t have the tools to do so effectively and confidently.
And so we’re seeing big feelings & behaviours with no end in sight.
The pandemic has resulted in collective trauma that has forever changed life as we know it for every human on the planet.
The stress we’re all carrying from this shared experience bleeds in to every relationship in our lives – including the one we have with ourselves.
This pressure cooker has made us quicker to react, shorter on patience, and less able to find the balance we used to have.
This interactive workshop covers way more than trendy self-care ideas. If we don’t get a handle on our own emotions & behaviours, there’s no way we can help the kids in our lives with their own.
Join us to dive deep into:
Understanding how identify your own behaviour patterns fuel the fire in power struggles
Your kids’ behaviour patterns and what they’re needing from you
And, how to have easier interactions with them
You’ll also discover:
How stress affects they way you process the world around you
And how to support kids through their own big emotions

Does This Sound Familiar?
- You feel like you’re reaching peak emotions/escalation faster than before
- You find yourself going from 0 to 100 and are flying past the warning signs to rein it in
- You’re finding yourself reacting rather than responding to their behaviour & emotions
- You want to teach them self-regulation but you’re realizing you never learned it yourself
- You feel like you don’t have the energy to meet their needs because you’re not taking care of your own
- In the midst of a crisis you know you want to teach them self-regulation but you don’t even know how or where to fit it in
- You’re constantly running from one fire to the next without being able to plan how to stop them from starting in the first place
- You’re noticing your kids are ping-ponging between high-intensity emotions and apathy without being able to find a healthy balance
- You’re noticing what seems like personality changes in your kids and that they’re also going from 0 to 100 easier & faster
- You know social media is part of the problem but can’t define exactly how
You’re not alone. Join us live on May 12th.
4pm PST | 5pm MST | 6pm CST | 7pm EST | 8pm AST

Why Do You Need This?
- When we feel like we’re losing control of our own emotions, we’re not equipped to help kids through their own
- When we react instead of respond kids learn that behaviour pattern – setting us up for power struggles and intense arguments
- These power struggles result from reactivity and negatively impact your connection and relationship
- Stress is a full-body experience that will affect our mental and physical health if we don’t deal with it effectively
- Stress changes the way our brains perceive the world around us – and understanding how and why is crucial to self-regulation
- Because 57% of parents/caregivers meet the criteria for depression (McMaster, 2020)
What you’ll learn …
- The relationship between your thoughts, feelings & behaviour
- What behaviour communicates about what we need
- Why people are more reactive when we’re more stressed
- How to stop reacting and start responding
- How traumatic experiences & stress impact the brain
- Your own escalation & behaviour patterns – and how it’s impacting others
- How to figure out exactly what you need to regulate your own emotions
- To build your own strategy toolbox to use when you feel yourself escalating
- Actionable steps to implement in everyday conversations & situations
- How to identify when social media is helpful, and when it isn’t
PLUS: How to teach these same skills to the kids in your life
Won’t it be amazing …
- To act with intention and mindfulness rather than on instinct
- To have a plan for when things start to feel out of control
- To know and understand yourself and your kids better
- To have the confidence to navigate big feelings
- To see your kids handling the ups and downs of life better
This workshop won’t happen again until 2023.
Can you wait that long?
Can your kids?

So, Who Is Alley?
Have you ever noticed that your kids (or spouse, boss, friends, or even yourself) fall into somewhat predictable patterns of behaviour (equal parts, “I totally saw that coming” and, “what the heck just happened?!”), and then wondered to yourself, “where’s this coming from and what does it mean?”.
If going from 0 to 100 feels familiar, you don’t want to miss this workshop!
The problem is that, on an intuitive level, we feel the warning signs of big behaviour … but we don’t know how to quantify it, or respond to it effectively. And so the big behaviours swallow us up. We wind up walking on eggshells, or – even worse – losing our temper and dumping all that fuel on the fire.
We start to question everything we do: “Am I even doing any of this right?!”
Since 2011 Alley has been supporting kids with complex emotional and behavioural needs, and the caregivers, coaches, educators and therapists who support them by providing insight and strategies that foster self-regulation.
Through extensive research, and practical application, she’s found her sweet spot in targeting balance (finding your calm) with the integration of behavioural and mental health schools of thought.
In a way that is trauma-informed and responsive to changing needs, she empowers parents, professionals, and the youth they support to hold space for big emotions without being swallowed up by them; to ride the wave of emotions that are synonymous with growing up, especially in turbulent times.
What it all comes down to, is that when we’re looking to support others (especially kids/youth) through big emotions and heavy experience, the work starts with us first. We soon realize that we can’t teach what we were never taught and suddenly we give ourselves permission to carry less guilt. You wouldn’t feel guilty about not knowing how to bake a souffle without a recipe, so why are you feeling guilty about not knowing how to navigate self-regulation without a framework?
So, let’s start there and let Alley help you work your way up to hitting it out of the park for the kids you support.

This workshop will give you strategies you can use RIGHT NOW.
If you’re worried about your kids – and your capacity to help them – you can’t afford to miss it.
