How This Will Help
Many workplace communication trainings aren't as effective as they could be because they focus on what to say rather than on how to connect. Traditional training often teaches scripted responses, conflict resolution steps, or leadership techniques, but these don’t address the underlying cause of workplace disconnection and conflict. Without an understanding of how communication challenges manifest in the first place, these approaches rely on steps, rules, and politeness instead of fostering understanding, trust, and genuine collaboration.
Collaborative Communication is a practical, trauma-aware approach to everyday conversations at work. It supports people in navigating emotion, power, and conflict with greater steadiness, clarity, and connection.
Rather than focusing on scripts or “perfect phrasing,” this work helps participants understand what’s happening beneath the words: nervous-system responses, inherited communication habits, and the relational dynamics that shape how people listen, respond, and relate to one another.
When people feel safer in their bodies, communication changes. Listening deepens. Defensiveness softens. Conversations that once felt charged become easier to navigate.
This training helps teams build a shared language for communication that supports trust, psychological safety, and belonging.
Collaborative Communication Part 1:
Listening, Emotion, and Presence
Part 1 lays the foundation for collaborative communication by strengthening how participants listen, attune, and respond in everyday interactions.
This session invites participants to examine the listening habits they’ve inherited from traditional schooling and workplace culture, many of which unintentionally create distance or disconnection. From there, participants learn how presence, empathy, and emotional clarity can shift the tone and outcome of even challenging conversations.
Rather than asking people to manage or suppress emotion, this work reframes emotional expression as meaningful information that can guide regulation, connection, and understanding.

Collaborative Communication Part 2:
Power, Accountability, and Conflict
Part 2 builds on the foundations of listening and emotional awareness by bringing collaborative communication into areas where inherited habits tend to surface most strongly: power, accountability, and conflict.
Participants explore how traditional “power over” communication models shape workplace culture and relationships, often in ways that undermine trust and belonging. The session introduces “power with” approaches that support collaboration, mutual respect, and shared responsibility.
Conflict is reframed not as something to avoid or control, but as an opportunity for clarity and strengthened connection when navigated with the right tools.
